This year is really flying by. I’ve been so busy, I hadn’t even had a chance to make a general spring recap and share some of our personal snapshots in between the big events like birthday parties and out of state travel. I can’t believe we’re getting close to the end of July already, and I’m starting to plan for all the fall and holiday fun. But first, let me share a little bit about some of the fun family things we did so far this year.
This year we went camping over at Dinosaur Valley in Glen Rose. We ended up with some nice, pleasantly cool weather. My dad came along, as did our dog, Dante, of course. The kids had a blast running around and exploring. We saw some dinosaur tracks and did some adventurous hiking along. Let me tell you, carrying a 35 lb toddler on your back while hiking along rocky terrain is quite the workout! 🙂 On our way back from Glen Rose, we stopped by a little museum about the Chisholm Trail. I’m always fond of little hodge podge museums like that; you can tell they’re a labor of love. Plus, I am a major history geek, so it’s fun for me.
We also hit up the Dallas Zoo, and got to ride on the monorail for the first time in quite a while. I remember always loving the monorail at the zoo when I was a kid. There was also an amazing Lego exhibit that had incredible detail to it. The kids got to experience their first Scarborough Faire down in Waxahachie. I had planned completely different costumes for them than what they ended up wearing, but they still looked adorable and had a lot of fun. We also spent back to back weekends with family. We headed down to CTX to hang out with my brother and dad (and adorable nephew Barrett, of course) and then we went to Mineola for a bit of a family reunion at my Papa’s house.
Fall is my favorite season, and although it feels like summer will never end right now.. I know it’s just around the corner. I can’t wait for all the fun fall stuff and Halloween!
Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend.
