Beautiful Colorado Travel Photos

Welcome back to part two of our very belated 2022 Spring Break trip. If you missed part one, you can see it here. The day after Bent’s Old Fort, we had a busy day seeing Garden of the Gods and driving up Pike’s Peak! We didn’t get to spend as much time as I would have liked in Garden of the Gods, but that’s just a reason to go back again later. Pike’s Peak was quite the experience, one to cross off the list, but I’m not sure I would do that again.

Another one of the very unique spots we checked out, was Bishop Castle. This is a one of a kind structure created by one man, on a personal journey. There is no entrance fee, you can simply show up and check it out. It was rather muddy and chilly when we stopped by, but we still enjoyed checking out the shapes, textures and stained glass in the castle. If you find yourself driving around Colorado, it’s a very cool site, but pretty remote!

One of our last official new Colorado sights was stopping at the Great Sand Dunes. We had been to White Sands before, but the Great Sand Dunes were their own kind of beauty. They are true sand, and they are much larger than they seem. It was still pretty chilly (March in Colorado is a lot different than March in Texas, for sure), but the sun was shining, and Z had fun trying to slide down a dune in various makeshift ways.

For my next post, I’ll share some of our adventures heading back to New Mexico, and then to Utah – a new state for us! Stay tuned for more. If you’re stopping by curious about my portrait photography, please drop me a line for more information.
